Photographic holidays are led by Ralph Withers and Faruk Akbas.
Faruk Akbas (Pron. Akbash) is one of Turkey's top professionals. The country has many superb photographers mostly unknown in Europe and the UK due to visa difficulties in the past. Turkey is one of the most diverse countres in the world and only around four hours from most UK airports. Faruk knows the country better than most having travelled extensively for assignments and pleasure. A charismatic man who simply loves photography and sharing it with others. He runs these workshops with us and is also instrumental in setting up several clubs and societies in Turkey not least Fotografevi, now the principle photo organisation in this country of 80 million people. Sought after by UK and Turkish companies for advertising shoots all over the world, Faruk specialises in capturing and recording the various cultures that he encounters every day. If you are nervous about taking photos of people join us on a workshop and learn from a master how to improve your skills.
Ralph Withers BA MA Cert Ed. Chartered MCIPD
Booking, logistics and "Man Friday" Ralph has had 45 years photographic experience and is still looking for that special shot. Involved in training for many years, he is responsible for ensuring all is prepared and ready. Ralph has practical experience of film-making, still photography both in the field (operations) and studio for the police service and the Black Police Association. For a long time he was involved in design, build and delivery of real time immersive training for training senior staff in critical incident management across the whole public sector. Work included diversity, fire incidents, sporting events, child protection and police firearms operations whereby specific critical decision-making is crucial to success.
Attending many photography courses in the UK, Ralph can also help with Intermediate Photoshop CS though, like most of us, he is still learning this software. We have a copy of Photoshop on each PC but there will be little time to use it. We also have Nikon Capture NX and Adobe Lightroom on our machines in Kaya Koy.
Ralph will be on hand throughout the workshop-holiday's and tours and may accompany you on all or occasional expeditions.
Rebecca Keskin
Your hostess, organiser of photography holidays, writing weeks, walking holidays, weddings, land purchase and development and group events with superb attention to detail and style.
Rebecca speaks near fluent Turkish and has extensive experience in hospitality and tourism. With her great local knowledge she is ready for everything with a "can do" approach following enquiries or requests.
She recommends pampering days at an excellent spa and can arrange for fully qualified Therapists and leaders for massage aromatherapy, yoga and all other activities you can think of. Hairdressing and beauty treatments are also available. Massage, therapies and Yoga are available at your accommodation by request. All these activities are priced at a fraction of those you would expect in the UK.
Tolga Keskin
Tolga is your personable host and Chef. With Rebecca he runs the villas as holiday accommodation all year round. A testament to his work and hospitality are the 70% of guests who return every year. Tolga will produce a "gourmet standard" menu for you from the Turkish and English cook-book. Specialising in fish he has a passion for food. He also owns and runs a very successful restaurant in Hisaronu.
Tolga has designed a varied and sumptuous menu for your photo-holiday. He takes great pleasure in your enjoyment of his food. Tolga speaks excellent English. Tolga and Rebecca have a beautiful five year old, Elanur (Ela) and a new baby.
Other Team members
Nur our housekeeper. She doesn't speak much English but being a warm and sensitive member of the team we know you will make friends with her within a few hours. She has lived in Kaya Koy all her life rarely leaving it...why would you want to do that?...
We also employ drivers and assistants for the appropriate transport we use on the holidays. We work with many businesses and families during your stay with us and will introduce them as and when we meet.
